Summer Clean Up!

So hi...

I'm comfortable back at home now, and as such I've been getting used to being in my old room again. The last week It's become a right state, due to a mixture of never being there ( eg grabbing or chucking stuff around then leaving) and trying to unpack everything. The First few days back I brought a load of my things up to unpack and ended up hardly unpacking them, so my room was covered in things. I've also had trouble refinding places for things, since I re arranged a lot of stuff to fit in my uni room they don't quite fit the same now i'm back home. It took a while to get the motivation, it was that thing where I had so much to do I just didn't know where to start and so avoided it. But It could not be avoided any long, and just over 2 hours later I had a pretty clean looking room. I still have clothes to unpack and sort through my draws but walking into my room, It looks pretty clean. So. how'd I go about it?

Tackling it in sections: This is a super big thing for me, Choosing little sections of my room to clear out made the whole job seems so much easier and manageable, for Example I chose to first sort out my make-up area/desk, then my wardrobe, then windowsill and so on and so forth. it meant that the room came together much faster than I expected because I didn't stress about the room as a whole looking messy.

Clearing the whole area and restarting: With each area of my Room i tackled I moved everything away from the area. for The most part I used my bed as a bit of a dumping ground, chucking everything on there before dusting and wiping down the area itself. This just allows me to focus on what I want to put where as the space is clear and de-cluttered and I can re-arrange and move around things as I want.

Clearing the things you don't need: I have to admit I'm a little bit of a hoarder, I hate throwing things away. Toys and teddies were things I never wanted to throw away before despite not touching them for about 9 years. I haven't dumped the teddies yet as they sit hidden in my top cupboard of my built in wardrobe, but I still had some old Polly pockets sitting on my window sill that just needed to go, My room looked a little childish with them sitting there. I also just clear and tidied a lot of other things which cluttered my room but I never actually used. It's great to now look around my room and feel like it looks that little more me and more adult like.

Those are probably the core things I did to help clear out my room. I still want to change a load of things about my room but all in due time I'm dying to completely redecorate my room, I'm not longer feeling the Hot pink feature wall that makes my room look super gloomy and tints the room in a horrible light! (Which you can probably tell from these photos). The light bulb in my room also is super orange, so I want to make that brighter and whiter. So Some of the changes I want to make are small and achievable over time, While others will be a long time yet. This may only be my room once again for 3 months but this is still my home. I'll always have this place to come back to from uni, So I should make sure it's a place that reflects me and makes me feel comfortable.

Any tips or things you do to help yourself get things done (particularly cleaning?)

Notebook Organization!

So hi...

Similar to my obsessed with lists is my need for notebooks, I like having a notebook for everything.. As you can see I currently have 5 notebooks in use 6 if you count the one I don't have with me at uni. Anyway I love notebooks and trying to be organized though sometimes that fails. So I thought I'd go through what I use each note book for to keep me on track and motivated in all aspects of life.
So I'll start with the red book, this is my brainstorm book, When I have random thought for posts, or anything really, I write it down in here. it's a pretty messy book but it's essentail for me to clear out my mind and not forget my ideas and thoughts. I also write a few blog post lists out on here before typing them up. As well as non blogger related things such as youtube ideas, gaming posts and plans for cosplay. It's really just my mind dump. Next is the muti coloured patterned book. I've had this one since 2013, It's my most private book, It has my hopes and goals in it, as well as important details that I need to remember, like for last year before I started uni I wrote a load of details about the course and accommodation etc, just so I could look back on them and know whats going on. I also have cooking recipes at the back of it, though I'm planning to get a notebook just for my recipes. It's a pretty random loads of things but It's probably one of the mostimportant as it has so many personal notes for me.
The Last 3 notebooks you may have noticed are all diaries, but they do att have different uses I promise! The Burgundy one is a general used one, I note down important events I have on days and a general to do list each night for the next day, It's super helpful to plan out my day and i've myself some structure, especially now that summer holiday is here and I have nothing to do, setting little goals and a to do list will keep me moving.
The animals print diary is an actual diary, I write about my day in the 4/5 line space, so i can look back at the year, as well as a way to organize my scrapbook so I don't miss any important days of events, I can look through this diary.
The front little diary is my blogging diary. It's where I plan each week what posts I'm going to write and put up. It's been so useful over May with me posting everyday, I already have the whole month of posts written down for when I want them to be put up. So usually after I read through my brainstorm notebooks I can pick ideas I like enough to make into a post and then Schedule them down with this little wonder.
And Just to let you know what my last notebook at home contains, It's a rather new one but It's all about gaming plans and ideas as well as dress making notes, for both general clothes making as I want to become pretty good at it and for my cosplays.

And that's how I attempt to keep myself from becoming a lazy unorganized mess of a person, with the help of 5/6 notebooks. Probably a little excessive but it works for me.
Do you use notebooks to help you through the days?

Blogging everyday in May.

So hi..

I've seen around the interwebs at the beginning of May a few people deciding to blog or vlog (eg: lilly pebbles) everyday for the month of May. Now as someone who only posts 3 times a week on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, I've never really considered doing something like this as I worry about ideas and posting just for the sake of posting. HOWEVER, I've been recently been doing really well with pre-planning and organizing on my blog, I've been good with writing my blog, having decent inspiration and keeping shizz scheduled. I had my posts planned for the whole month of may and still had a few ideas for what to do after. So I thought I'd challenge myself to blog everyday for a whole month. I've already been doing this pretty well so far and do have a lot of posts planned for the whole month. I'm also pretty proud with the posts, I don't feel like I've made up posts or random ideas just for the sake of it and they are posts I think will still hold some interest for readers.

So yeah, look forward to a whole bunch of posts from me this month.

The Alice Boutique Launch

So Hi...

Last Tuesday I was lucky enough to be invited down to Birmingham centre to attend the Launch party of the Alice Boutique, an online shop of gorgeous collectible tea sets as well as cushions and other delightful little pieces.

When we arrived the centre table was covered in the beautiful little items from the collection and they all looked so cute and stylish. I also noticed very quickly the cute little pattern cushions, I'm recently having a small obsession with pillows and cushions so this made me very happy.

There were also different sections for the different styles of the collections, such as the monochrome section, great to fit into any coloured kitchen or collectors cupboard.

There were a number of little features to the room which added to the Alice in wonderland effect such as the little eat/drink me notes attached to the drinks and food. There was also a little photo booth with accessories which you could take part in as well as flamingo croquet which was a blast!

The event also had added features from Handmade boutique which Tracie ( the creator of Alice Boutique and of handmade boutique) had used that just added a great effect to the whole room and it was really a lovely evening

We were given refreshments and cocktails through out the evening which was nice.
Overall it was a lovely evening in which I got to chat to fellow bloggers as well as enjoy the gorgeous alice in wonderland themed collection that surrounded us. I'm really a fan of the cushions and will definitely be looking into purchasing one soon!
Have you seen Handmade boutique before? or do you like the looks of alice in wonderland themed teapots and such?

Starting a Uni Scrapbook.

So hi...

I've always been the type of person that envied the cute little friendship scrapbooks I'd see people do or the creativity on Tumblr and in peoples diary's and work. SO when I seen Lilly Pebbles talk about the scrapbook she had done for the year of 2014 I got super motivated. I though that since I had just gone through a major change in my life ( aka uni) that it would be the perfect opportunity to start up my own little Uni scrapbook.
I got a load of free prints from various sites. Many photo sites will give you free prints when you sign up and then it's just a small postage fee, I got about 150 in total from two different places. I then picked up a number of cute little pieces from the nearby wilko. there are all relatively cheap, I think my favourite is the little ribbons. I also want to get some nice patterned washy tape soon. So far I've gotten most of the pages for 2014 finished, I'm thinking about showing a few of the completed pages once my first uni year has been finished. It's not a super flashy or creative scrapbook, but I'm proud of it and enjoy doing it.

Habits I Want To Make.

So hi....

I don't think I've mentioned it too much over here on my blog but if you follow me on twitter you would have probably seen my praises of how much better I've been feeling over the last 2 months or so. University has really done me a world of good, the responsibility and the whole level of control you get from being in a different city and living independently is just something that really sat well with me and due to that I've felt more and more content with myself as a person and have got a real sense for what I want out of life and where I want to go with uni and just life in general and it's super nice. In relation to that I've developed a few things that I really want to make into habits that will become apart of my everyday routine.

Morning walks. - I'm not the worse morning person but at the same time I'm not really the best. I want to get into the habit of waking up early and going for a casual little walk to wake myself up

Reading the news in the morning. - I always feel really out of the loop with news, I just don't watch the news in the mornings or really watch it in the evenings either and we don't have newspaper in the house, So I'm always unaware of whats really going on, and I just want to change that and know whats happening in the world around me.

Read a book chapter a night. - Trying to renew the little reading challenge thing that I did a few months ago but in a different way, to properly wind down before bed I want to read and just relax away from the laptop and my phone.

Learn a new skill every few months. - This is slightly random but there are so many things that I want to do and know and I think it would be amazing to spend a few months at a time dedicated to different skills I want to learn and then gradually practicing them.

Relearn to read sheet music. - I suppose this could be linked to the skills point but I used to read sheet music when I had piano and violin lessons, but over the last 3-4 years I have almost completely forgotten which I feel is a shame as I loved being able to play off of sheet music.

Read more journals for uni. - This one is not only to make sure that I feel that I've done my best in my uni work but because the course I'm doing ( Psychology and Criminology ) is something that I picked because I do find it interesting, so I want to engross myself into it as a subject  and topic more than I am at the moment.

Listen to the radio in the morning. - Another random odd one, but I've been putting the radio on while i'm reading the news on my apps in the mornings to help slowly wake my self and it's just nice as casual background noise, It's especially nice recently with all the festive music, helps put me in a great mood in the mornings.

Make proper use of my time, Organize. - Quite a really general one here but I really need to make better use of my time and be a lot more productive and organised, I always think how there's not enough time in the day but really it's just that I don't make good use of the time.

Do you want to change any lifestyle changes, since It's new year, are you going along with the usual, new year new me shibang?

September Goals.

So hi...

I feel like this is going to sound very 'typical blogger' but now that I'm well out of high school, I quite like September, after august being my favourite month due to it being my birthday and most often the beginning of cooler weather at the end of august. But September is a nice and cosy month, I love the crisp air that can feel so refreshing and how everyone wears a bolder berry lip with pride!
September this year is a huge and slightly stressful month for me. On the 20th I make the final move to Birmingham, where I'll (hopefully) spend the next three years of my life and I just hope I click with people. Anyway enough rambles, I thought I'd make a little list of things I hope to achieve in September, they are personal and all very uni/ living situation related but enjoy.

1. Successfully move out with minimal forgetfullness- Basically be organised and not leave half my things at home to find out weeks later I reeeaally need them.

2.Eat healthily at Uni - Too many people have warn me of Uni weight gain and I can't afford any of that! I see uni and independent living as a way to completely control my eating habits and really work towards better living and weight loss.

3. Linked with 2 NO TAKEAWAYS - Not only can I really not afford it but I really want to avoid that junk food, I've not decided to completely cut takeaways because I feel like it'll be a common thing for the flat to collectively order but one takeaway for every two weeks is the maximum if not one a month!

4. Make friends - Quite a general one here but I'd really like to make a few good friends within the first few weeks, already chatted to a few people through facebook and found fellow course members, so It's looking like a good start :)

5. Cook my flatmates a meal - Kinda cheesy but I think as well as get along with all my flat mates I'd quite like to cook a group meal, There's 6 of us in one flat, but I think that's a good amount.

6.Learn my way around Birmingham - I hate not knowing where I am, and I think the quicker I can learn the bus routes and my way around the city ( or at least the city centre and around my uni/halls) I'll feel a lot more safe and at home.

That's Really the main ones, there's loads of other little things but these 6 are my top priorities! I really am getting quite excited for uni now but at the same time the realization that I'll also be leaving so many people behind makes me feel kinda sad.

What are you're goals for the month of September? You moving to uni or a new place?

We'll talk soon lovelies!

The Wardrobe Clearout.

So hi..

when it comes to my wardrobe I'm lucky enough to have a built in wardrobe, but it is also the same wardrobe I've had since I was about 10, this means it was an absolute state as stuff was chucked in there and had bits and bobs in the back from years ago, so a week or so ago I decided it seriously needed a good clear out. I started off by taking out all the clothes in the wardrobe and separating them in to 4 piles, Dresses, Bottoms, Shirts and general tops. This is the outcome on my bed.

You never realize how many clothes you have until they are laid out like this, and I still have my drawers...(Don't worry a lot was chucked)
And my wardrobe looked like this..
As you can see I have a christening dress and other bits on the side that belong to my sister but my wardrobe is the biggest so I have to look after it for her, and then my scarfs on the side. Before actually organizing my clothes I decided to sort my shoes out which sit at the bottom of the wardrobe, this included trying all of them on and deciding if there's any I don't like or really don't wear.
The reject pile was thrown aside and the victors rearranged back on my shoe rack.
Look at that. looking all neat and stuff. Then began the VERY long and slow process of trying on all of my clothes, chucking a load of them away and refilling my wardrobe, I also was able to organize my wardrobe better as before all my clothes were randomly there with no real system. First I started with Dresses, then shirts, bottoms and then the biggest pile, the general tops.
And bam, a much cleaner neater wardrobe with a system. I decided to organise it From left to right as Cardigans, Jumpers, Light tops, tshirts, bottoms, Shirts, dresses and then winter type clothes that I won't be wearing for a few weeks yet. Although with the chilly wind that's been around it may be sooner than I had hoped.

Have you had a major clothes clearout recently?
How do you organize your wardrobe and storage?

We'll talk soon lovelies!
