Little Decor.

So hi...

I love decorating my room, as we have our own flat rented out and are not staying in student accommodation my and my flatmates have a lot of freedom with how we chose to decorate the flat, My favourite was buying Christmas decorations and a Christmas tree and putting that up together. But I also love decorating my bedroom. I have a few things up on the walls but I still have to be careful about leaving marks and such. With this in mind it's great to have little trinkets and desk decor to spruce up the room and my space.
I have amassed quite a few little bits for my room, some of which I've shown before but I thought I would show of the 3 or 4 new pieces I have on my desk and room just to show of my personality and make the place look nice.

So First is a Memo White board which I picked up from B&M for about £3?
I've got it put up on my wall and as you can see I use it for reminders about nearly everything. My exam dates, important future plans, my daily to do list and my art work to complete. It fits quite a lot on and has magnets to stick up little memo notes to it. Super useful and it brightens up my wall a little. It stops me wasting paper writing random little notes and lists that I end up losing immediately.

I also have this little groot in a pot I picked up from a comic store in bedford that hangs onto my speakers. It cost me around £5 but I really love having it there and it's quite quirky looking chilling on my speaker wires It's a little of my dork side on display and I love it.

This little white owl decoration was only £1 would you believe! from poundland and it's super cute on my desk. It's quite light weight and hollow inside but it looks super clean and neat, definitely not like its only £1 at all and the little eye detailing is sweet as well.

This red little house was bought just before christmas and Is definitely meant to be a Xmas Dec but I love it and it was only £1.50 from morrisons. It's a little tealight holder so it looks even nicer in the evening with a yankee tealight illuminating through the house detailings

Another B&M purchase are my last two bedroom decorations. One of which is this little heart shaped clock, It was around £5 and I got it as I was often relying on my phone to tell the time and some mornings when I phone was dead I would panic to turn my laptop on to know the time, which all in all felt a little pathetic.
So I thought I'd get a little clock, This one has an alarm clock feature as well which is useful. I also find the little ticking sound of a clock super relaxing and really helpful when I'm over thinking in bed as it lets me relax and focus on the sound rather than the bad thoughts.

The last and most recently bought item, once again from B&M in this pink storage box, I can't think of what sort of pattern this is but I love it, This was another £1 purchase and it helped to clear up my daily make-up choices, as they tended to be a bit all over the place, especially the bigger pieces like my circular powder and bronzer, Now they sit all nicely together in this box and are still just as easy to use and get to.

And those are all of my new-ish, most recent decorations to spruce and tidy up my room. B&M is definitely a big player in cheap cute decorations. It's also a great place for a student in general as it sells a load of house stuff and food actually. Heaven,

Any Decor bit's that make your bedroom feel more homely?

My Dorm/Uni Room Essentials

So Hi...

It's not long now till I'm back off to uni for my second year, it feels like only a few weeks ago that I was panicking about moving into Accommodation for my first year! Although I'll have my own flat ( with 2 friends) I still have a few must have items to make it feel homely. I think this is super important for your first year! It can feel pretty bare and lonely when you first move in. New place, New room, it can be pretty scary!
So I thought I would write about my essentials to make my room feel homely and comforting!
This Idea was given to me by a brand called Parachute Home! They have a load of Quality bedding and cosy things to spruce up your room. May seem expensive but I definitely think it would last and feel super soft!
Check them out here: http://www.parachutehome.com

So My Dorm Essentials?

Bedding: The Bed is the easiest and probably most effective way to immediately make your bare room feel more you. putting on some pretty sheets and adding some pretty pillows give the room a little personality and shows off your tastes!

I have a number of different bed sets and like to swap them out, My favourites are this gorgeous skyline which I got from Asda And this super summery pineapple cover. So pretty.
Throws: Are another way to decorate a bed, Mine is a simple black flurry one from primark but I'd love to get a brighter patterned one!
Pillows: I only owe 3 pillows to decorate my bed with currently but I'm desperate to build up my collection by about 10x. The pillows I currently have as you can see are three cream ones, with one in the shape of a heart which, once again was from Primark. Sorry but Primark does pretty home stuff for super cheap.

Photos: Pretty obvious but sticking up photos is a great way to personalize your uni room. I decided to put mine up in a little heart pattern above my bed which was super simple but looked really nice.

Notice board: Most uni Accommodation rooms have some form of notice board, Usually with all the safety stuff pinned to it at the beginning, since you're not really allowed to have things up on the walls in most places it's great to use this to stick up any posters, I used mine for my planner poster I got at the uni Fair (Go to these it's freebie galore) and little tickets and a t-shirt from nights out, which I put photos on top of.

Little ornaments: This won't be for every one but having little cute nik naks on my shelves other than uni books and notes definitely made my room look better.

And those are my Dorm Essential for comfort. I may do a few more posts like these, Such as Essentials for the kitchen or bath room! I know a lot of people worry over what things to take to uni.
Did or do you have thing to bring that homely feel to a new room?

Home Inspo!

So hi...

Although I'm living back at home the excitement I have for moving into my new flat next year is unreal. I've been going crazy thinking of things I get and how I want my room decorated etc. As it's a rented flat and not student halls it gives me a little more free rein over what I what to do, especially in terms of the walls and hanging things up. You might be able to tell, I'm in love with pillows, I want to eventually own a mish-mash of pillows to decorate my bed and in the future my sofa. I always love the idea of having a clothes rail in my room,Not really instead of a wardrobe but I think it's a cool way to showcase my favourite clothes and I could easily grab my to go pieces from the rails.
Another HUGE idea that I want to do is to have a huge world map. and i mean huge, like takes up most of the wall huge. And I'm going to mark where I've traveled and where I want to travel on it. One way I'm gonna do this is by collecting postcards, And I'll tac the postcard from each place onto the map. It's an idea I've wanted to do for a while and now that I have a super clear idea of how and when I want to travel as well as the fact I have income from Jobs right now, one of which is a relatively long lasting weekly job, I can really work towards travelling different places and build up a decent amount of savings.

Mason Jars: Perfect Cocktail Presenters

So hi...

I think it's quite a given that everyone likes the idea of BBQs on a hot Summer's day. But a perfect accompaniment to that is fruity and colourful cocktails present in cute little jars. I've got 3 such mason jars recently, all from pound shops as well. Now they all mismatch as I was looking for the pink one and bought the other two before it as a sort of make-up to myself for not having the one I wanted. But they are all pretty cute. The blue has the best straw and lid, but I wish the blue was more transparent so you  could see the colour of the drink inside.

I've always loved these little jars, So many people seem to have them and they just seem to make any drink look that little more presentable and fancy. I'm hoping to actually collect a few of each of these style of mason jars, and make different little cocktails in them for summer. I have quite a big garden so it would be quite nice to try to organize a BBQ some time this year.

Do you like presenting your cocktails in fancy jars or glasses for parties/ gatherings?

The Alice Boutique Launch

So Hi...

Last Tuesday I was lucky enough to be invited down to Birmingham centre to attend the Launch party of the Alice Boutique, an online shop of gorgeous collectible tea sets as well as cushions and other delightful little pieces.

When we arrived the centre table was covered in the beautiful little items from the collection and they all looked so cute and stylish. I also noticed very quickly the cute little pattern cushions, I'm recently having a small obsession with pillows and cushions so this made me very happy.

There were also different sections for the different styles of the collections, such as the monochrome section, great to fit into any coloured kitchen or collectors cupboard.

There were a number of little features to the room which added to the Alice in wonderland effect such as the little eat/drink me notes attached to the drinks and food. There was also a little photo booth with accessories which you could take part in as well as flamingo croquet which was a blast!

The event also had added features from Handmade boutique which Tracie ( the creator of Alice Boutique and of handmade boutique) had used that just added a great effect to the whole room and it was really a lovely evening

We were given refreshments and cocktails through out the evening which was nice.
Overall it was a lovely evening in which I got to chat to fellow bloggers as well as enjoy the gorgeous alice in wonderland themed collection that surrounded us. I'm really a fan of the cushions and will definitely be looking into purchasing one soon!
Have you seen Handmade boutique before? or do you like the looks of alice in wonderland themed teapots and such?

What Makes My Room Mine!

So hi...

When you make the jump to uni and with the majority of people, move into student accommodation, you find that every room is pretty bog-standard and basically the same. It's a very uncomfortable feeling moving into such a blank canvas of a room that has so many restriction of what you can and can't have. Because of this I feel it's important to have a few little home decor pieces to put your stamp onto your uni room and make it feel all that little bit more homely and comforting after a hard day of uni work. So with this in mind I thought I would show off the few little bits and pieces which a consider to show of my mark in my room and make it more cosy.

First these are the little pieces that are dotted around my desk and shelves. The Panda bag and C shape were gifts, given to me by fellow blogger Molly when we participated in a box swap. Since the swap was before uni it meant they could be immediately placed in my room as soon as I moved in and made it so much more 'me' The other two pieces were additions I bought myself from a local little home decor/ clothes store. It was a strange find as the store itself looks very badly presented and the clothes don't really seem to be for the younger audience, but me and my flatmates decided to have a little look and I found these two bits, The little heart sign says 'What I love most about my home is who I share it with' And was only £2. I bought this with my house for next year in mind as out of 4, I'm only fond of two of my other flatmates. but living with them and the friends next door is something I'm seriously looking forward to. The little wooden box was £3-4 and I love the cute simplicity of it, plus I say bits and bobs all the time so it fits.

Th next little cosy addition is a rather recent purchase. It's a gorgeous fluffy little pillow that i picked up from primark for about £5 I think it was? Recently I've been dying to build up a cute little pillow collection to adorn my bed and this little beauty it the start of that collection as well as my planned center piece.
The Rest of the additions that make my mark on my uni room are just the way I've chosen to decorate my room, I said yesterday how I got a load of free prints for the use f my scrapbook, however I also used a few to stick up onto my wall into a heart shape just above my bed, As well as to help decorate my uni board. As well as them I have little wristbands I've collected from nights out and events ( as well as the event t-shirt with my nickname- I don't know why it's that either) and my framed pictures of my football society photos. I absolutely love my board as it's the one place I can get away with sticking nearly anything up there without hassle.

If you're currently at uni what things do you have to personalized your room? and if not are there any favourite home pieces in your house that make it feel like home?
