May Aims

So hi...

So er, I'm a little late with this post. BUT I do have a good-ish reason, my Wifi went ka-put at the beginning of the month and I've had no Wifi at my flat for the last few days, it’s been weird and all kinds of boring yet productive at the same time. But my FOMO was definitely through the roof which really sucked. ANYWAY, New month new goals, kinda. Let’s get on with it.

Eat well and Exercise: So I mentioned going to the gym with my flatmate before, and well it just hasn’t been happening, so that was a fail. I'm starting to think I might brave going alone, as I'm often awake in the middle of the night these days and a little gym visit may do me good to tire me out enough to sleep and get some exercise in. Don’t get me wrong I have been exercising, but not nearly as much as I’d like.

Revise fortnightly if not daily: As much as I would like to believe in myself to revise daily, I'm being realistic with myself to know that probably won’t happen. But I think I could definitely get myself to revise at least every other day. Exams for my second year at Uni are literally round the corner and I need to get my butt in gear.

Listen or read the morning news: I really made the efforts to read and listen to the news more often a few months back, but I have kind of fallen out of the habit and I’d like to get back into it, It’s nice to just know what’s going on in the world and it’s interesting to.

Continue Streaming: So I've been live streaming on a site called twitch. I'm planning a separate post to really explain it but it’s been a ton of fun. The community and friendships I've built on twitch have been amazing and I enjoy streaming so much. Even if I'm just a little bit rubbish at it. I mean I can only go up right?

Continuing learning and developing my art: I've really been pushing my art out in April, a cause of this has definitely been the live streaming but I feel like I'm getting more ideas and itching to draw more often and it’s amazing to look back at pieces and already feel myself progressing. I'm also learning more and more about how to get the most out of Paint Tool SAI, which has really effected the quality of my art as well. I'm looking forward to keeping up this productive streak.

Experiment with my make-up: As I mentioned in my April round up, I've really fell in love with make up again, I was starting to get really lazy with my make-up. I just felt that my make-up looked a little rubbish no matter what I did, and it felt a little pointless putting it on. It may have been due to buying some new make-up, or that I had randomly decided to look through my stash and try on some older products. But either way I'm loving doing my make-up and trying out different colours and looks out. I want to keep up with this re-found passion.

Embrace life and Opportunities: when I went to Ireland and travelled alone by plane for the first time, I had planned to write a post about travelling alone and making the most of life, but never got around to it funnily enough, though I'm still planning to do that type of post. But either way I want to push myself more, to try and make the most of each day, to do something each day that I can look back on at the end of the day and say ‘Go me’. I just feel more and more that I'm never getting any younger, and why delay plans that I could be making now?

And those are all my Aims for May, quite a variety I think, and all pretty doable aims I think. The only thing that’d stop me achieving them are my number one enemies, Laziness and lack of motivation, though my motivation has been great… So it’s more just my never ending laziness.

April Aims

So hi...

So April although lacking in social plans, should be a really good month in terms of personal development and aims. I'll be finishing uni and starting gym and swimming and generally doing a lot day to day. As such a lot of my aims are health and fitness related.

Gyming it with Kate: As I said In my weight post (HERE) I'll be starting the gym that's across from me with my flatmate and I'm aiming to go at least 3 x a week.
Keep a strict budget: Once my third installment of student finance comes through a large portion of it will immediately be put aside to pay for rent and bills throughout summer, because of this I want to be strict with my money so I don't waste money on food or things I don't need.
Slow the Drinking-Try go dry: I've noticed that this Uni year I don't go even a week without drinking and I thought I would try to cut this down a little, To better my spending habits and see the effects of my possible weight loss
Look for a Summer job: Kind of tying in with the budget aim, I'll have a lot of money put aside for rent and bills and not all that much for personal spending, I'd like to do a fair bit in summer including book a tattoo, and that shit needs money! 4 months off also can get really boring honestly.
Start Planning volunteering options:As I'm nearly done with my second year of university I really want to get some volunteering in prisons under my belt to prepare me for after uni.
Complete 5/6 Art Pieces: this one is a kinda regular aim as I want to hit a personal quota of 5 pieces a month.
Start streaming: Watching so many streams has made me want to do it myself with my art work or games, Not expecting to get anything from it, but it's a lot of fun and relaxing.

That Weight Game.

So hi...
I've mentioned it many times but one thing that extremely hinders my self esteem, confidence and basically all aspects of my life is my weight. It's something that has always worried me, like I feel it does with a huge number of people.
It really changes a lot, but recently I'm just felt worse about it and it's getting to a point where I kinda feel a little sick looking at myself in the mirror. yep.
So to combat this I'm going to get on my exercise game, and stop the takeaways... Dominoes is so good and my flatmates are so convincing!
Anyway.

I'm starting swimming with two of my course mates, swimming is my favourite exercise or general thing to do, I just love the water, but in my hometown there isn't a nearby pool anymore.
Birmingham is different however and I'm hoping to go once a week minimum.
Along with that, is Gyming it. I'm lucky enough to have a Gym about 1 minute's walk away from my flat and me and my flatmate have agreed to sign up together and go with the off-peak membership.
It's good because we both prefer exercising late at night and can help to encourage each other and make sure we both go. I'm wanting to do to the gym 3/4 times a week.
I'll be signing up in April when my student finance comes through but I'm actually really looking forward to it.
Then there's the eating, in terms of general meals I'm quite good, I prefer to cook for myself and rarely have ready meals. My weakness really is snacks and mindless eating. I'm definitely a boredom eater and when I'm casually at my desk or bored I'll eat or go make something.
Honestly this really shouldn't be the case, considering I have loads of things I always want to do, I'm just bad at being productive and get distracted and bored easily.
I'll probably write a progress post towards the beginning of summer, around June maybe?
where I'll hopefully be super happy about how well I'm doing, but we'll see.

Any health and fitness goals you've set yourself or recently achieved?

March Goals: 2016

So hi...

Damn man, we're already onto the third month of the year, feels like the year has only just started! With university especially it's felt like our assignments have come around just a little too quick!
But anyway, lets try and be positive and set myself some goals for march.
March goals. ft random doodle...

-Start listening to an educational or interesting podcast.
-I've been looking around at a few podcasts I could try and get into and I want to get into the habit of listening to them in the mornings and on the walks to and from uni, just as a way to stimulate my mind while doing other things and keeping myself informed about the world.
Podcasts I'm looking into:
-TED Talks
-BBC: The Inquiry
-More or Less: Behind the stats.
-It's a Crime: with Margaret Mclean
-Spark London
-Answer me this

-Continue walking to University.
  - I've been pretty good with this to be honest I at least walk to university 3 out of the 4 times I'm in, which I think is pretty good, I'd like to try walk everyday however, at least to uni, walking back however will be a slow process, we'll get there.

-Stay Engaged and up to date with University work.
-I've been pretty damn good this term with keeping on top of my work, I made a promise to myself to do the extra reading and make sure I do my notes because I'm not doing this course because I was forced, I do enjoy it. It's just like I have the high school mentality of education sucks because that was how everyone acts, when honestly, I love my course, although there are definitely boring parts, on a whole it's enjoyable. I want to keep enjoying & actually put in all I have to my work, because honestly, I don't remember the last time I gave my all.

-Complete 5-10 digital drawings and continue to improve.
  - I'm absolutely loving drawing digitally, with each piece I start or even complete I'm finding new ways to do things and experimenting with my art and how to improve it, it's so enjoyable and I am so inspired to keep creating.

-Find some sort of working sleeping pattern.
  - I've never been great when it comes to sleeping, I'm definitely a night owl by nature (Currently writing this at 5.23am, have yet to sleep) well maybe more an 'AM' Owl. I have always struggled to sleep, but recently it's becoming a whole new board game.
Although previously I wouldn't get to sleep easily, I would still get about 7 hours sleep at least, the last few months, well the whole of 2016 so far I'm lucky to get 4 hours sleep. Now I am someone who doesn't need much sleep, if I sleep too long I tend to feel super groggy and get headaches, but 2/3 hours is a bit too little. So I need to work out the best times and methods to get me into some form of sleeping routine.

-Read (Before bed).
 - I think this is forever on my goals as I am never quite satisfied with how little I read in my young adult years when I was such an eager reader as a kid who could easily read a decent sized book in a matter of days. I also don't want to read online either, as nice and convenient as laptops and the internet is, I like my pen and paper, I like written up notes and hard copies of books, it's just more appealing to me. So I want to return to the habit of my child hood of reading 5/6 book chapters a night.

Those are all my goals for march, they are all very personal development based and aren't really strictly for the month of march as much as they are goals to achieve and keep achieving at but that's all I'd like for this month.

What are your goals or aims for the month of March?

The Body Shop: Vitamin E Intense Moisture Cream

So hi....

It's currently winter in the UK, some may debate that saying it's nearly spring, but it's damn cold right now, I ain't seeing any signs of warmth of spring yet. Anyway with the notions of winter and coldness, comes the issues of chapped lips and drying skin, it sucks big time.

In an attempt to combat this I've been trying super hard to moisturise often and keep my skin feeling some kind of decent. To do this I've been using the body shop vitamin E intense moisture cream, It says it's for very dry skin, and admittedly my skin is more combination type but that's why I don't often use this cream, however the harsh cold weather this year was really wrecking my skin so a small amount of this after washing my face seriously helps.

It really feels super creamy and nice on my skin and especially in the morning after moisturising before bed the night before my skin feels so soft and smooth, it's great.
I''d definitely recommend this cream for anyone struggling with dry skin or just having issues with the winter weather like I have been.

What product has saved your skin this winter?

Visual Mood Boards: Food.

So hi...

Another Mood board for you all today, with the topic of food. This is a great way to inspire me to remember to eat as well and as healthy as I can, using fresh ingredients, though there is the odd burger, it's all about balance and sometimes it's nice to treat yourself to a meal out or something a little more fatty or sugary than normal.
Once again I'm using he Niice app as it's the easiest way to search and collect images online I've found, but I do have a little collage of some meals I make for myself as well.

10 Healthy (ish) Dinners

So hi...

Bit late with this post but as I mentioned life has very much got in the way! My Birthday meant I tried to get out often and wasn't home much and when I was I was too tired to write, But to make up for that I will be trying to daily post in September, but no promises, this blog as much as I love it, is just a hobby and sometimes other life aspects come first. But it's all to make sure I experience what I can of life!
To the more important thing... Food. More Importantly ,healthy-ish dinners that I like to have.

1.Roast- One of my most favourite dinners, I wish my family had Sunday roasts because I never get bored of it! you can change up a roast as well, with more veg to make it a little healthier.

2. Homemade burgers- If you make sure to get lean mince this can be healthier, plus I actually love to have homemade burgers with salad and fried mushrooms onions and peppers, no bun needed, though if you did add a bun and some cheese, no one would blame you!

3. Stir fry- You gotta love a good stir fry, you can mix it up so much and add loads of veg or whatever meat you want, it's super versatile and tasty.

4. Peppers onion spinach potato & Fried egg- This is one of my absolute favourite meals after my flatmate Becky made me this, I know it has a name but I don't know it, I just love it, you fry everything together including thin potato slices and then top it with a boiled egg. perfect.

5. Seasoned Roasted chicken with tomatoes spinach and sweet potato- A super simple one but it's quick it works and you can change up the dish by adding flavours to the chicken.

6. Fish butter sauce bake- This was my own creation to use stuff up, but when I remade it I perfected it slightly, So it's basically salmon (Or any fish of your choice) fried and seasoned, I like to make the fish sweet chili flavoured, I then add a load of Veg, Such as carrot and broccoli and whatever else you want, I then make a butter sauce and add some pepper and salt for flavour then top with potato and bake in the oven, so good.

7. Chicken & potato Curry- Homemade curry is so good, I made it for the first time last year and it's great because you can make t as hot or mild as you want and add what you want, I love chicken and potato curry.

8. Fajitas- Another one of my favourite meals, This can be changed up as well, I like to have chicken fajitas but you could definitely have a veggie fajita.

9. Pasta and sauce with toppings of choice!- A super student one here, basically a chuck it whatever you have with some pasta and tomato sauce, simple, empties out your fridge and usually tastes pretty good.

10. 'Pizza' salad and wedges- So unfortunately, pizza isn't very healthy but you can make 'mock' pizza which is a little bit better, I like to make them with wraps, bit of tomato puree, some cheese and toppings, lovely, and to serve with It's quite nice to have salad and homemade seasoned wedges.

10 healthy (ish) Lunches

So hi...

Second of the foodie posts! This time it's 10 lunches I enjoy, and again they are healthyish, as there are exception because I like not so healthy food, but I think that's pretty normal so it's cool.

1. Smokey Red lentil soup- This is my best soup ever. Me and my mum made this a while back and we wondered what made it so smokey and realized it was from using smoked paprika and I'm so glad we did, it's the perfect lunch with some super fresh bread. Yum.

2. Rivita with chili cheese & ham with salad- This is a lighter lunch and one I had many a time between uni lectures, Recently I've been using sweet chili philly instead of the actual chili cheese but it's still just as good. ( you may have noticed I included this in the breakfasts post with poached egg instead, but ya know, it's good stuff.

3. Ham salad sandwich- Super simple one but some good ham slices with lettuce and any other salad choices and a blob of mayo, so fresh tasting and easy to make.

4.Baked potato and Filling- This can be made healthier or unhealthy with what fillings you use, It's quite nice with some tuna mayo for lunch, I personally think cheese and beans is more a dinner thing.

5. Cheese on toast- Super unhealthy but some times there's nothing better than some good old cheese on toast and a splash of tomato sauce.

6. Egg & chicken Sweet chili salad- Best salad I ever made was a salad with spinach fried onions tomatoes and lettuce with garlic and herb sauce then topped with egg and chicken with sweet chili dressing, the dressing isn't too bad but not great either. I love them though.

7. Scrambled egg mixed with spinach & salmon- This is a super health lunch, you could also swap what you have, so maybe ham slices instead of salmon or add avocado as well, but scrambled egg is lush and spinach makes it all that much better.

8.Fill it your way wrap- Wraps are pretty damn good. and often easy to make, for lunches I tend to not have anything hot in a wrap except maybe warm up some chicken, but often will have salad with a bit of mayo then ham or chicken or turkey and mix a little bbq sauce, the mix of health crunchy from the salad with the naughty taste of bbq sauce is heavenly.

9. Tuna & sweet corn pasta- Super simple, super filling. Yum Tuna with a little mayo and a load of sweetcorn mixed in with freshly cooked pasta. not much else to say really. it's a good'un.

10. Fruit Bowl- Another lighter lunch and easily could be breakfast as well, but a big bowl of your favourite fruits with a little yogurt is lovely and fresh, you could also sprinkle a few nuts or a little granola of top for extra crunch.

What are your favourite lunches to enjoy?

August Aims.

So hi,

July's goals, were super unsuccessful, but then again I didn't write them with a broken foot in mind, so I don't think there is much I can say about them. I did get to practice my make-up application and draw a little but not really as much as I wanted, I think I'll definitely do my 30 themes I wrote about but I think I'll wait until September as I have a bit more time and will be more settled down.
Anyway here are a few of my aims and goals for August.

1.Walk often: Once the cast is off my foot I want to try walk often to help re-strengthen my foot as well as to up my fitness, 6 weeks of sitting around can't have been good for that.

2. Get back into reading: I've really not been able to read much recently, when I do have time I just haven't and I miss it, I'm definitely going to re-read my collection as I have a pretty decent collection of around 50 books.

3. Keep up sewing/Dressmaking: I'm getting the hang of sewing, but I want to start to progress with dress making and getting the hang of patterns and maybe even make myself some clothes.

4. Start Blogging again: so after not really being too active on the blog for both June and July I've decided to try and blog everyday again like I did May to get myself back into the groove, I've heard daily blogging actually gets the ideas flowing, which I did find with may, hoping for that again.

5. Over haul Wardrobe: I'm really sick of my wardrobe, it just doesn't shout any form of style and i really don't have that many clothes that I feel fit the style that I love. Though there any a lot of clothes I love but wouldn't wear as my confident grows I'm hoping for the style and fashion I admire to be the clothes I also rock.

6. Build up my confidence: I'm forever questioning myself and apparently although I do well to make people think I come off confident it's definitely an attempt to fake it till I make it. Sometimes I get bursts of confidence, a nice outfit, a good hair and make-up day, but more often than not I hate what I see and question everything about myself, so I gotta stop that, no more.

7. Try to learn new things everyday: Even if that's trivial information or actually learning a new skill, I feel it's super important to always try to improve and develop yourself further. so this is one little step to attempt that.

And those are my aims for the month of august, mostly personal development ones but when aren't they?
Have you set yourself any goals or aims for yourself this August?
