The Year Round up: 2014

So hi...

And that's the year over.. 2014 over and done with and I'm not sure whether I thought it was quick or not. Honestly a lot of the year feels quite blurry to me as Uni beginning has been such a huge change it's blurred the few months previous, BUT here it is a few photos of my year.

Janaury: This was a pretty good month, I went yolo mood and chopped off over half my hair to my shoulders and did lots of cooking as well as catching up with friends.

Febuary: As far as I remember this was another pretty good month, I went to see ADTR with my friend Darcie and  had another London trip for Casual Shopping with Ross, Was eventful and lots of fun.

March: not as good of a month, I finally went into hospital to get my Tonsils removed which had been playing up for nearly 6 months, but I was glad to have them out, And still got to enjoy Paddy' day with the Family, Result.

April: This was an interesting month, the highlight being the fancy dress party my friend had, which I went as a maid If you couldn't tell, I think it looks pretty good, I also got a bit of summer prep shopping done and treated myself to games, I love the Bioshock game series.

May: I had a really good may, had a lot of fun, Went out for a 'quiet' drink with my friend Amber which ended up with a struggled walk home at 6.30am, I also had work at 8 the next day where I didn't finish till 8pm, It was hard, I feel like I lost my sanity at some point, but I still really enjoyed the work and night out aha! I also had a great chilled 'party' at my Friends which is the second picture. And the last is a catch up with Friend Darcie where we were classy and sat with a whole pizza each and a Costa, Perfect.

June: Apparently june was the month of selfies for me. In honesty this was the month my memory card messed up and decided to wipe my photos before I got a chance to back the latest files up, And so poor june here doesn't have much to show for it, but I remember it was a lovely start to my summer, I wore dresses and everything, I also had a really good work shift at the club for Specs comedy, it was really good.

July: Getting into the full swing of summer I made sure to make the most of it trying to soak up the rays without burning and we had plenty of nights out with lots of ridiculous photos as you can tell.

August: So I slightly messed up my neat 3 photo thing i had going on here but August is summer and my birth month so gimme some leeway here. And can i just say, that middle photo, I now look at and wish I looked like that now, I was working out then as well, what the hell?? As I said before I turned 19 in august and had lots of days in the sun, nights out and a little BBQ at a friends, I also got a full fringe which I'm already missing...

September: Again ruining the theme but the last few months have been very eventful and I've tried to take more photos for it. I moved to Uni and had a heart breaking 'Last Supper' with my friends at home. But Freshers was super eventful and fun, very student typical in the large amount of partying.

October: Still in the moving to uni swing, I still spent lots of time partying with my new friends. I also went to a toga party as apart of a social with the Football society I joined, they are a fab bunch. I also had a lovely week back home as we partied on halloween (My friend has his birthday on halloween) And I got to see my cat, always a highlight.

November: The partying calmed down slightly in November but not too much, It was also the start of the Festivities of Christmas settling in, I got to experience the German Christmas market in Birmingham, It was absolutely amazing. Everything was so pretty and it put me right into the Christmas spirit

December: And so here we are the last month, I could chat ages about December since It's fresh in my mind but you would have already seen my December round up so I won't go on. It was a nice mix between being at uni and at home and was an absolutely amazing finish to the year!

And that was my year, I'd say it was a pretty good year apart from the hospital early on and stuff, but I pasted my A levels and Uni is going well, I also already signed for a house next year with the amazing group of friends I've made at uni and I can't wait to live in a house next year. I've also really grown as a person since uni, and have grown very close with a few people from home, I suppose realizing those I can always rely on.

So it's been a really great year I think, Well as the end of it I'm feeling positive so it had to be!

My Freshers Week Guide.

So hi...

Now that I'm starting my third week of Uni and freshers seems way too far away ( take me back please) I thought I would give you all a little 'Freshers week Guide' Based off my experiences and observations of the week!

1. Make Friends- Freshers week is THE week to be sociable, Most people are just as nervous as you probably feel and in most situations are sitting in the same boat as you in moving away  from home. Freshers week, everyone is chilling to chat ( well 99% of people anyway) so make the most of it! get to know people, Be friendly, You don't have to make your lifelong friends there and then but you give a much better impressions if you're willing to talk to people, even if ( like myself ) you quite like your own company, fresher weeks is the week to be chatty and go out.

2. Allow yourself Wind down 'me' time- Despite my first point it's still a good idea to allow yourself some time to just relax and think. Uni is a big life change for most people and it doesn't hurt to give yourself time to process that, get used to your new room if your in accommodation. Common advice given is to leave your door open to be inviting but it's fine if sometimes, you don't want to invite anyone in, everyone needs time to just relax.

3. Know your plans- This will save you SO much hassle and stress. You should plan what you doing during freshers, if your uni has wristbands for events like mine did then you may just choose to by that, then you can look up where the places are and arrange travel. me and my flat were really lucky to meet a brilliant taxi driver the first night who now is like our personal taxi driver, but not everyone is so lucky and you could get ripped off, so know your stuff.

4.Outfits.- It will save you a lot of hair pulling and stressing out to know what sort of outfits you could wear to events, if there's any themed parties, have a basic idea of what clothes you could put together to make an appropriate outfit, I had so many issues with what to wear during freshers and seriously realised how little I have in terms of 'going out' outfits, tragic.

5.You will want proper food.- IF you like to cook like me you will quickly find out that you won't really fancy takeaways everyday or frozen pizzas. I purposely didn't pick up any fresh food like fruit veg or meat as I thought there would surely be no time for me to cook and that I wouldn't fancy it, but my god I have never appreciated things like onions, mushrooms and peppers more. Now if you're not much of a cooker then I'm sure ready meals will do you fine but you're body will thank you for healthy food options to balance out all the alcohol!

6. Naps will probably become apart of your schedule. - I'm not TOO much of a napper, but since starting uni it's become more and more appealing. Especially during freshers where I was out till 4am then up for 2-3 hours at 9am, once I got back to the flat in the afternoons I napped, then got ready for the next night, it's just something you need to keep awake and get your necessary hours of sleep in.

7. Keep a checklist of important things- You do not want to lose things while out, No one does, but during freshers and especially with the influence of alcohol it's easy enough to forget about checking you have everything or leaving your phone by the sink in the club toilet (seen it a lot) So write a checklist of your important belongings before drinking or going out to keep in your bag so you can remember to check when you see the note, Losing Your I.d midweek of freshers and not being able to go out anymore wouldn't be fun now would it?

8. Last but not least, with all the serious stuff out the way HAVE FUN. It's true that uni is a big experience to have, it's not the most important thing and you don't have to go uni, But if you do choose to go the uni route, Enjoy it. Freshers week is the learning calm before the academic storm. Use it to really enjoy yourself and let your hair down a bit before getting down and serious with lectures, assessments and Uni work, You won't regret it!

Are any of you 'Freshers' This year? what would your top tips be?

The Vlogs begin.

So hi...

And it has begun. I uploaded my first of a few Daily vlogs today. The Vlogs are of my experiences of moving to a completely different city and starting uni, which I already explained in my video and post previously. Finding time to edit between preparing stuff and going out was hard but I'm finally getting my shizz together and have time to sit down.

I'm really struggling to get into the swing of daily vlogging if I'm honest, I also don't want to be shoving a camera in my flatmates faces all the time, but I'm slowly recording more and getting into the habit of getting my camera out so I should be making the vlogs a little more exciting, I also want to explore the city a lot more now that I feel so much more settled in which should be good. I hope you guys will enjoy exploring the city of Birmingham with me.

So here's the link to my first vlog: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eZoWFtTZkpE&list=UUI-HtPgvi9yDiCEoXmkDNAg
